The W2M Abandoned Baskets Plugin allows you to send a reminder email to visitors to your site that have items in their basket but have not yet checked out. These reminder emails can be sent manually or scheduled to run automatically.
How do the Abandoned Baskets work?
The Abandoned Baskets plugin can be set so that emails get sent automatically to all customers with an open basket or manually as needed.
The plugin has settings so that you can determine how old the basket is before sending out a reminder email. For example, you can set the plugin to only send to customers with an open basket that haven't visited the site in two days. I.e. if a customer visited the site yesterday it will send out an email to the customer tomorrow. That way you don't bug people immediately after they leave your site. This gives them a day to come back and finish their order. This time span can be adjusted so you send reminders anywhere from 1 day to 30 days after the customer visited the site. You can also choose the time span that the plugin will cover, from one day to 30 days. So if you want to send an email every week to customers that have an open basket that is more than three weeks old, you can do that, too.
The plugin can also be set to only send to customers with a certain dollar amount in their baskets. So if you only want customers who abandoned baskets worth $100 or more, you can do that. The default is all open baskets.
Finally, the plugin also has filters so you don't annoy your customers with too many emails. You can set it to not send to someone if they've placed an order within a set number of days or if they have already received a reminder email within a set number of days. The defaults for both of these is 30 days.
All of these settings can be configured for your scheduled emails or overwritten temporarily for manual sends, including the ability to resend to a customer who has already received a reminder or who has placed an order recently. The plugin's manual pages also include a report mode so you can see the open baskets without actually sending the emails out.
